Local Government

Referendums at the municipal level are fairly common and they are an excellent way of resolving contentious issues. All laws will inconvenience or annoy someone or other but laws passed at a referendum, whilst potentially just as inconvenient and annoying as any other law, are so much easier to accept. Suspicions of undue influence or favouritism are allayed and councillors can go about their duties without appearing to offend anyone.

All we are asking for is referendums called for by the electors - not just by the elected, when it suits them.
